I never used tcpdump with two NICs, but if you want, you can look at my MDI
reservation script at <http://members.xoom.com/rts101/tmp/mdirsv.sh> I used
to easily switch the NIC between TCP/IP stack and tcpdump.

The script may not work on your particular system (especially with two NICs
installed), but you can at least verify that you followed the correct steps
to reserve MDI for your NIC.

Before running the script (should you decide to), study it thoroughly and
make backups of all files that are being modified.

My voice mail suddenly gave me a pile of deleted messages - causing me confusion and stress as I thought things I fixed were broken again.
